The Resident Squirrel

After my 2 mile walk on Friday, I took my camera outside to snap a photo of our resident squirrel's home..

...as I was doing this.. the resident squirrel showed up !

... and checked me out to be sure his home was safe...

Then he jutted up....

...and down, his tree to show me this was HIS tree!

I was tired and sweaty from my walk and just left him on his tree acting all squirrely!

Debi: I am sure he was looking to see if I would throw him a peanut lol

kathleen: that would be a "summer nest" up north where there is snow but down here it's all they have

thanks cj: mmm don't know anyone who wants to cuddle a squirrel with teeth strong enough to crack nuts lol

Hehehehehe...I just love squirrels. There are SO many of them in Louisiana. I remember when me and Megan first started going out we went to City Park and had a picnic and got scared to death because all of these squirrels literally came ONTO our blanket to try to get our food! It was like they were trying to take us over! But they're so damn cute. Ours are more gray than yours though. Yours seems to have more brown in him and looks a little bit skinnier than ours too :p

My friend the squirrel!!! Isn't he sweet. No idea how you get these pics of squirrels, Pat. I could lose some serious weight if I started chasing ours to get photos...

Ours are very grey, and the ones around my house in particular are VERY fat. I have a big garbage can from the city, and they have eaten a hole in the lid and feast as they desire...lol With 5 kids, let me tell you, they have a lot to feast on...lol
Love the pics as always Pat :D

Hi, Pat! These are great pictures of that squirrel. Having no squirrels where I'm at, it's a new thing for me to see a squirrel's home. I didn't know they built it like that. I thought they build their nests exclusively in tree hollows.

kelly:aww well chubby squirrels do better in the winter than most do!

hi jo: the "leaf nest" is a "summer home" up north.. they do live in tree hollows and holes in roofs of homes and such in winter..but down here they just use the leaf homes since there is no "real winter"... but the squirrels do seem a bit smaller than the ones up north

Cute Mr. Squirrely Squirrel. I feed the ones around here and they're all over my backyard... at least when my German Shepherd isn't paying any attention.
