This deserves a closer look...

(back cover)
This artist, Gary Lippincott is one of the artists in A Knock at the Door!
I emailed Mr Lippincott and he very graciously gave me permission to put copies of his work on my blog!!! (you will never know how much I would love to own his "Storytime wizard and dragon" !)
As you know I love love love.. dragons..and fantasy, so I can totally appreciate this artist and I hope you can too.. here are some other examples of his very fine work!
(Gandalf!!!)
(my personal fav!)
(love the fairy tree!)
I do like this artist! And really wish I knew what books or such that all of these are on!!
He does Wizards and Dragons and Fairies and Trees! What's not to like??? I sure wouldn't mind owning a print of my favorite one above!!! Anyone want to wish me a Happy Birthday early?? (.....it was worth a try!)
I hope you visit his website here.
He's certainly worth your time to take a look....but be careful.. you might like something!

Oh, wow! I want this! I have the boxed set with the four books, only read the first two, but really this is so much nicer!
That's some amazing artwork. It's almost enough to make you pick the books up.

I love the wiards at the cross roads and the tree. I just had a copy of the books arrive as a box set, but the artist is no where near as good as the copy you have.
kelly: Ohhh I hope you enjoyed the books! I'm not sure that I've read any reviews on them.
cj:well i have the book, so if I had the money I'd get the print of "storytime"!!
Rhinoa: I saw those but my eyes aren't very good and so I have to get mostly hard back books or trade paper backs for the "hopefully" little bit larger print and sometimes double spacing.
But I do like this artist! if my trilogy was good enough to be published I would hope this artist would do the covers!
Thirding the 'I have the boxset' comment, but your copy is so, so much more gorgeous. Since you said you like Wrede's works, I'm sure you'll love these four stories as well. And that artwork is amazing.
What's this about your own trilogy? Do tell! *curious little thing - meow!*
Libritouches: a number of years ago I attempted to write a trilogy. Fantasy of course! lol.. I didn't start off to write a trilogy or even one manuscript but once started it took over my life for 3 years. As I said, it's not publish worthy and I am not a writer, in that I never took classes or anything.. just wrote on my own. If you click on the link under "my websites" that says "attempted character art" you will see some sketches I tried to make of some of the character in my story. I did send to a few publishers who naturally turned it down..but that was ok.
Love that image of Gandalf. Such lovely these images, thanks for sharing them.
P.S. love your drawing of your Firestorm character. He looks like he has a sense of humor. Or is that deceptive? :)
Masha: Firestorm describes himself as being "far too old to fly" and he has bad eyesight. (poor old baby)
No wonder his name sounded so familiar, I've seen his work on the Duirwaigh site before. Great stuff. Is there any way to email him to ask which books these are covers for? I especially like the fairy tree. Very well done. Thanks for sharing this, Deslily, it is wonderful to travel around the internet discovering great art!
carl: I knew you'd know him! I love his work..I have "knock at the door" but I'd love to own a print of his! wow.
I have his email and he was kind enough to respond to me first email, not sure I should pester him though lol
This is some of the most stunning artwork I've ever seen. Off to take a look at his website now...
Cath: love his dragons and fairies and trees!! oh yeah! hope you enjoy his website!
Pssh, many writers never took classes, Pat! It just takes a lot of effort and practice (like any craft that), and it's a very, very rare writer who turns out something publishable the first time around. I hope you've enjoyed the writing of it when you did, though! That's the most important thing: enjoying yourself.
*just stares at art* You call that an attempt, woman? Fie! That is no mere attempt at art! That's wonderful! There's people'd kill to be able to draw as well as you do.
libritouches: oh I know that. But I don't have the push to keep trying... I did enjoy the writing! Heard the voices in my head and all.. I still do when I reread it. I tried editing it several times and even Chris read all 3 "books" and helped with typo's! (no big surprise that Chris liked the books.. "give it to mikie, he likes everything" lol.. but that's my Chris and I'm still happy he liked them.. he even wrote me "reviews" for each of them and emailed them to me) cool beans!!
ask me now how i did them on the computer and I couldn't tell you! it was "lets try this and lets try that" and now I forgot how I did them lol... unfortunately I just found out that Geocities will be closing after the summer so my websites will disappear! glad you got to see the drawings!
Oh I love your little dragon statue! He's a seriously amazing author :) the faerie tree is my absolute favorite though. If it wasn't a little too expensive I'd totally buy it for my new library!
Maybe one day the bug will bite again. ^-^ (And Chris is a sweetheart.)
Ack! That's a shame! They're such pretty things. *sad noise* Will they be gone forever, you think, or will you be looking around for somewhere else to put them up again?
hi Tink: that was "puff the magic dragon" and he WAS an ashtray!! now I use him to hold pens lol
I love these books I am on the last one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
