The Girl I Used To Be

(Not necessarily in order:)

1.  I loved animals from when I was very very young.

2.  I picked wild strawberries in the fields.

3.  I wasn't afraid to catch frogs in streams!

4.  I always wanted to learn to play an instrument

5.  I finally learned to play the drums as a teenager

6.  I played in a professional rock and roll band

7.  I drove a 360 Honda motorcycle

8.  I helped paint murals on motorcycles

9.  I loved to bake.

10. I loved Christmas and decorating

11. I used to think growing old was along way away, if I thought of it at all.

12. In the town I grew up in I used to think I'd always live there.

13. I used to think that friends you had would be friends forever

14. I was vain enough to wish I was pretty.

15. I was married with 2 sons.

16. I was a friend to some celebs.

17. I used to love to dance.

18. I was a Clown for Special Olympics

19. When I was young I wanted to be a Vet.

20. I used to love to build sand castles.........

To coin a great phrase:  "Once Upon A Time..... " I was this girl.

Oh Pat, you not only were pretty, you still are pretty! Very pretty! Not the 25-year-old version of pretty, but pretty nonetheless! I love this post, because I love the pictures and the glimpses at your incredible life. But in a way, it made me sort of sad...sad because you just never seem to give yourself enough credit. Pat, you're a remarkable woman!!! You've done things most of will only dream of doing. And seriously, sweetie, who knows what is to come...I know the last few months have sucked, and it's got to be very hard to hold onto any sort of positive attitude...but an awesome lady like you just may have some more adventures yet to live!

I suspect this is truly more like the girl you still are now as opposed to the girl you used to be. The heart that caught frogs and rode a motorcyle and and painted and danced and built sandcastles is still the one we see every time we read one of your posts. Yes, you've aged, as we all do and it doesn't surprise me that at one time in life it seemed a long way away, but you were very beautiful then and you still are today. Once Upon a Time? Hardly. Still! is a better description.

thanks Daniel !lol

Nymeth: need a few miracles for any adventures now.. but I'll take em if they come!

Carl: as my mother used to say "I was a girl when broadway was a prairie!"... we are way wrinkled, and quite overweight now... not obese but not thin anymore! Hard to believe I ever was.. would you believe when I was a teen and young adult I wouldn't go out without a girdle on!! now I'm fat and won't wear one because it cuts of circulation! LOL..

I was the same way about growing old. I just never thought it would happen.

thank you Naomi..

Pam: I think it's strange that until we are "there" we don't really think we will be "that old person"... quite possibly if we did we would all be like me.. depressed most of the time... but then no government or "money people" really do anything to help the elderly.. the bad care they get in "old folks homes" etc
