Wings

Wings by E.D. Baker

Hardcover: 320 pages
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Children's Books (April 29, 2008)
ISBN-10: 1599901935

Product Description

When Tamisin discovers real wings growing from her back she wants to know what is making her supposedly normal life so weird. But before she can piece together the facts, she is kidnapped by goblins and brought to the land of fairies, goblins and many other magical creatures… including her real mother, Titania, the fairy queen.  As she  falls in love with Jak, who’s half goblin, and realizes the depth of her human parents’ love for her, she finds that having a set of beautiful wings suddenly sprout from your shoulder blades isn’t all bad, and there are many good reasons to fly….

This book is another YA book.  I'm sorry I took so long to read it, to be honest it could be read in just a few sittings, but I was having a bad week.

Anyway, It really is a cute and enjoyable book!  I like the two main characters, Jak the half goblin and Tamisin the half fairy .   Should E.D. Baker decide to use these two for another book, I will surely enjoy reading more adventures they might have.

Two minor characters in the book that I really enjoyed were Lamia Lue the snake lady and Herbert the unicorn. I don't want to give away too much but each time they were in the story I found myself smiling.

The book would be a quick and enjoyable read for anyone, a nice break from some of the more serious writings of adult books.

Thus concludes the fourth book for Once Upon a Time. (Quest the First)

You're going well on your challenge, Pat. I'm halfway through book 4 too... Here, There be Dragons. Hopefully crack on with that after our grandaughter goes home tomorrow.

Four books done: good for you! My class loves fantasy read aloud to them, so I'll keep this in mind. I actually wouldn't mind growing some wings myself. ;)

Cath: actually, I finished the challenge, I only signed for the Journey (1 book).. but have moved on to Quest the First for 5 more.. lol..

Chris: I know I didn't tell much about the book.. it's a small, quick read...enjoyable, though I think it would be a read out loud to young kids.. but the characters were done very very good. And I would enjoy reading another story using them

Bellezza: make that 2 of us! can we fly away from all our worries then??

Thanks Debi: I hope so, but I seem to be falling apart more rather than less as time goes by.. but trying to hang in there.
