2008- So Far...
The photo below is the list I am keeping of the books I read in 2008...
When I look at this list (so far), I see old friends (Pern, Belgarath, Raistlin etc), and I see new friends, (Bartamaeus, Mary Russell, Cecelia etc) and I see time enjoyed inside my books.
Knowing this I still wonder, how come it's enjoyable just to look at your books even when you aren't reading them? The people and places in those books, and of course the mystical creatures, are not real.... yet they continue to make me smile, and continue to make me wish I could run away to those special places, with those special people and live some of the lives that are only real in authors heads. Creepy huh?

Not creepy at all...it's part of the joy of books :)
I absolutely love looking at my list of books read and looking at all of my books piled together because of the same reason...for the people and places in those books that we become connected too. Like Nymeth said, not creepy at all :) We all feel that way!
You'll definitely be over 100 books this year! We're not even halfway through the year yet! You've read some great ones too. I can't wait to see what else you read!
Not creepy at all! I feel the same way whenever I glance at a book I've read before (which is probably why there is at least one book in every room of my house).
nymeth: I can't help but think it creepy to be somewhere that isn't, with people that aren't... maybe it's just sad.
Chris: You are a rare find indeed. But you already know you should always agree with a nut so they don't get worse LOL LOL.
Ladytink: one in each room eh? lol.. I have a friend that wound up reading every single Harry Potter book .. ummm.. in the "throne room"! heh..hey whatever it takes huh? hehehe
I've read a few on your list and have several more on my TBR list. One of the reasons I keep my blog is so I can occasionally look back over the books and refresh my memories.
I am enamored with your turtles. Did you design those on paint shop?
booklogged: I use to draw Myrtle freehand (before computer) Just a year or so ago I decided to "upgrade" her and color her in and scanned her on the computer and began to play around with her.
Creepy? No way!
That is one impressive pile of reading for the year! Hopefully you've got plenty of more friends yet to make this year as well.
I don't think it's creepy or sad at all. I feel the same way when I look at my previously read titles. The attachment to the characters, (and whichever realm they live in) is a big part of the enjoyment for me. Those covers also bring me back to the time and place I read the book. They trigger memories, (happy and sad) but I wouldn't give any of them up :D
I agree with animewookie! book covers and titles remind me of everything going on in my life when I read that particular book! And hey, there have been years that I have longed to be with Anne in PEI, or now be another cousin to Kate and Cecilia!!! Even Lord of the Rings - at the end, after the darkness is vanquished! I think part of the fun of reading is that it allows me/us to imagine all these other worlds and lives and possibilities. Magic exists because of books. And lives have been changed. I love your idea, by the way, for how you are keeping track of what you've read! and i like the turtles!
ok, blogger still likes me, maybe it will let me add this now...
debi: you sure it's not creepy? lol lots of places and characters i'd love them to be real!
animewookie: true all of it true. But for those of us who mainly read Fantasy all the time.. we are looked on as strange from wanting to see some of this stuff for real lol..
Susan: my turtle's name is Myrtle. I used to make cartoons for the Kelley's who really had a desert tortise named Myrtle. Have you visited Myrtle's site? I don't do her often but there are a number of things on her website.
