Dragon Champion

Quest the First...

Read at least 5 books that fit somewhere within the Once Upon a Time II criteria. They might all be fantasy, or folklore, or fairy tales, or mythology…or your five books might be a combination from the four genres.

Book : 3 Dragon Champion by E. E. Knight

Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Roc Trade (December 6, 2005)
ISBN-10: 0451460472

Product Description
After escaping those who killed his siblings, YoungAuron, a rare, defenseless gray dragon, fears he might be the last of his breed. Armed with nothing but his claws and a boundless determination to survive, he sets off in search of his kind. But to find other dragons-or, at least, find out who's killing them off-Auron will have to search a world of mercenary elves, vicious humans, and dangers of all kinds. Finding allies in the strangest places-and himself along the way-Auron is on the trek of a lifetime.

This is the first of a trilogy... The Age of Fire by E E Knight.

It is a story of Auron, one of 5 dragon eggs to hatch.

Auron is the different Dragon.. he's a "gray" and gray's have no scales, but grays can change colors to blend in with almost any background.

This book is written much like a biography. It is Auron who is telling his story. It is Auron who has to learn, at a very early age, how to survive long enough to become a proper dragon. (needing to grow horns and wings)

Auron takes us through a number of years of his life, including meeting hominids who didn't try to kill him right off the bat! He survives killer Dwarfs and hominids who want nothing more than to rid their selves of dragons. When he finally finds another dragon who becomes his mentor in place of the family he lost. There he stays and learns until finally he gets his wings and becomes a proper dragon.

But his life is far from complacent ...

..this was really a different sort of book about dragons. It had the feel of a "real dragon" telling his life struggles .. it was... interesting. And I can say I did enjoy it but more like a learning story. It's definitely a different type of book, and I'm hoping book 2 will keep my interest as this one did.

A biography, you say? It definitely sounds like an original approach!

It looks like you'll manage to complete quest the first one more time :P

nymth: or a journal of it's daily life... what it did, how it survived, friends it made, enemies it ate lol... "interesting" is the work that keeps popping into my mind.

Animewookie: oh really? Your daughter is the first I've heard of who read these books then! I can't say they are way up there near the top of favorites.. but there is something about them that makes you want to read and see what's next.
