Ready to Cry..

All morning long it’s all I can do to keep up with the emails of the spam being put on older posts in my blog!!!  such names as “generic viagra’, “xlpharmacy”, “indian pharmacy”..as fast as I go delete them i get 3 or 4 more in my emails.. i am afraid to open “replies” now!!  I sent something in hoping BlogSpot can help otherwise I will delete my blog!  I have on word verification and they even leave a “comment” but their link is still there to others to click on….  Is anyone else having a problem ??   I really don’t want to leave BlogSpot it’s been my favorite blog ever!

I had that happen once, Pat. It was terrible. I turned on comment moderation for posts older than 14 days and I haven't really had any problems since. You just have to remember to check for 'real' posts amongst the spam filter. It will tell you on your dashboard when there are comments to be moderated...

this is horrible! I can't move from the computer I am afraid they will overload my email and crash my computer!... why can't it be stopped??? so word verification is no good ???

You can set it up where you have to approve comments. Either you have to approve all comments before they post, or approve comments on older posts (I believe you choose the number). This definitely works better than word modification. Your inbox may still let you know about all the spam, but it won't be posted.

If there are particular posts being targeted--which happens sometimes--you can always turn off comments for that particular post.

Oh God, I'm so sorry, Pat. I have no suggestions but the things Kelly and Becky suggest sound worth trying. I *hate* spammers!!!

I think the suggestions made by others will stop the comments---At least, they won't get on any of your posts this way....Comment Moderation is the answer, I think. And meanwhile, maybe Blogspot can do something about them, too.....But, you being able to approve of comments is a really the best idea. Good Luck, Pat.

Oh Pat. :( :( :( That just sucks. I hope some of the suggestions above work. It's just too horrible to think of you having to delete this blog. :( :( :(

That's terrible. I have had the occasional spam comment like this but never so many in a row. I would think that the word verification should work but I guess not. I hope things have settled down by now! I don't want you to have to delete your blog and move it off of blogger!
