East of the Sun & West of the Moon

The following post has quite a few photo's, therefore I apologize to those that are on dial up .

East of the Sun & West of the Moon by Mercer Mayer Illustrations by Mercer Mayer.

Paperback: 48 pages
Publisher: Aladdin Bks/Macmillan NY/Collier Macmillan London (May 30, 1987)
ISBN-10: 0689711131

Product Description
"Mayer's telling is an interweaving of plot elements from the original Scandinavian fairy tale with inventions of his own and details from The Frog Prince. The spellbound frog is whisked off to the trolls' castle and the ungrateful lass loses her chance to marry a handsome prince until she creates a happy ending, having atoned for her mistake."--Publishers Weekly. Full color.

What an absolutely beautifully illustrated book this is.

The story is short and direct and of course can be read in one short sitting to a child... but the illustrations are really something else.

I'm glad I found these two books that my brother had and managed to keep . They are a delight to read and very appreciated by my eyes.

Those are some very fine illios. Especially liked the colorful ones as I am sure any child reading it would. Great talking with you last night. Sorry I had to stop but the ladies were arriving and had to feed the herd. But I will give you a call soon. Take care of yourself.

PS I just showed my daughter the illustrations - she was delighted! And wants to know how they stopped the troll from killing the prince (2nd last illustration.) Guess I'll have to buy the book now! lol!!
