Nicholas Flamel appeared in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series—but did you know he really lived? And he might still be alive today! Discover the truth behind Michael Scott’s New York Times bestselling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel with “Nicholas and the Krampus,” an ebook original short story.

Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel have rescued the world from destruction countless times over—but can they save Christmas as well?

Now, that lost story is told. . . .

It is the first Christmas after the end of World War II, and something evil is moving through New York. The ancient immortal human Sinter Klaas, better known as Kris Kringle, is being hunted by a terrifying horned creature: the goat-demon called the Krampus. When the Flamels receive a desperate call from their old friend Kris, they must devise a plan to trap the monster—and get it all done before Christmas Eve.

How grand!  Yet, another great novella with Nicholas Flamel and Perenelle !  As far as I am concerned Michael Scott can continue writing novella's about the characters in his stories, forever!  It feels to me that the more I learn about the characters the more I am drawn to re-read the original books. (And I recently did that!)

Michael Scott has so many wonderful characters and such a great story to tell in the original Six books, that you really never want the story to be over!  Don't miss reading the original books... you know not what you will miss.

Read the whole series!

In this first installment of the Renée Ballard series, #1 bestselling author Michael Connelly introduces a "complicated and driven" young detective fighting to prove herself on the LAPD's toughest beat (The New York Times).

Renee Ballard works the midnight shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing few, as each morning she turns everything over to the daytime units. It's a frustrating job for a once up-and-coming detective, but it's no accident. She's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor.

But one night Ballard catches two assignments she doesn't want to part with. First, a prostitute is brutally beaten and left for dead in a parking lot. All signs point to a crime of premeditation, not passion, by someone with big evil on his mind. Then she sees a young waitress breathe her last after being caught up in a nightclub shooting. Though dubbed a peripheral victim, the waitress buys Ballard a way in, and this time she is determined not to give up at dawn. Against orders and her partner's wishes, she works both cases by day while maintaining her shift by night.

As the investigations intertwine, Ballard is forced to face her own demons and confront a danger she could never have imagined. To find justice for these victims who can't speak for themselves, she must put not only her career but her life on the line.

It took me longer to read as my eyes continue to blur.

This was a new detective for Michael Connelly, but as usual for his writing and where it all happens makes me still enjoy it.  There's something about reading a book when you know the towns and many of the roads they travel on while searching for the bad guy!

This is a good book for twists and turns.  You think you know, but guess what.. you don't lol. My next book will consist of Ballard and Bosch!!  But it is another over 400 page book, so don't expect a review next week!

This is my first book for the new year and a good one to start with!  I thank my girlfriend in California, Kris for sending it to me!! (Danke Kris!)   I hope some of you who like detective stories read Michael Connelly.. he knows how to write a good book!
